Fourth Grade News
The beginning of 2012 has been very exciting in the 4th grade. We will be reading a novel that correlates with Nebraska History which is called “Bound for Oregon.” The book is about the journey and hardships of the Todd family as they travel across Nebraska on the Oregon Trail. We have discovered that certain landmarks were important then as they are now such as the Platte River and Chimney Rock. Some activities that the students will be taking part in are: creating their own covered wagon and writing letters to family members back home about their time on the trail.
The students will be learning about certain types of poetry. One activity they will participate in is coming up with their own idioms and drawing a picture of it. Each student will be creating a booklet of all their poetry which includes: Bio poems, Shape poems, Haikus, Color poem, Never poems, Tongue Twisters and Idioms.
In Math the students have started division. They are ready for the challenge and are doing well so far.
Thank you for all your cooperation with the 1st semester. It has made the year go by so quickly!!
