TOO MUCH TO MENTION!!!!
Kdg., 1st, and 2nd grades can tel you all about Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart! We all got to watch a “Little Einsteins” episode that taught us music by Mozart and about Greek Mosaic Art. They have learned how old he was when he started playing, touring, and when he wrote his first song. They can also tell the name of his father and sister, what he spent his money on and how old he was when he died. Ask them if they can sing the song we learned that Mozart wrote!
3rd grade has been working on steady beat vs. rhythm. I bet they can show you the difference, and you might be surprised! As part of this unit we got to watch “STOMP Outloud”. STOPM is a group of dancer/musicians that make “rhythm” out of any thing they can get their hands on!
4th grade has gotten to try their hand at being song writers and rap stars. They have enjoyed learning the basics of writing a rap song, were introduced to Christian rap music and finally got to write their own rap song. Their choice of subject matter was a DWP rap or a Christian rap song. They all did an awesome job! Each group was vide taped. We are working on getting them on the school website.
5th grade has spent some time learning how to sing three part songs. They do a great 3 part rendition of Rock-A-My-Soul! They have also been learning about the history of the African American Spiritual and how this style has influenced every kind of music we listen to today.
6th grade started off the year writing, directing, and staring in a commercial/psa. Each group had to come up with their own “product” or psa. They did a great job. We are working on getting these on the school website. Right now, the 6th grade classes are working on a music report of their choice. They got to choose their own topic and have been working on their research, note taking and writing skills. We are anxious to get the presentations started!
