FAQ’s

What is it?

St. Wenceslaus School Family is an association of parents and faculty designed to:

1.  Assist in the appreciation of Catholic Education

2.  Promote a clear understanding of the mutual educational responsibilities of teachers and parents

3.  Promote cooperation between the school and home to improve the physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual well-being of the students being served

4.  Provide a venue for parents to express concerns and suggestions to school personnel and the School Advisory Board

5.  Provide support to the teachers and administrators of St. Wenceslaus School

6.  Support fundraising activities

Who can belong?

By virtue of enrolling one’s child(ren) at St. Wenceslaus, fathers, mothers and legal guardians are considered members of the School Family.  Faculty and administrators of St. Wenceslaus are also members.

How much are dues?

All St. Wenceslaus School families are encouraged to give $3.00 for their membership to the state-wide Nebraska Federation of Catholic School Parents.  This serves as dues for the School Family for that academic year.  More information about the NFCSP can be obtained by calling (402) 477-7517, by speaking to the St. Wenceslaus School principal or parish representative.

What if I have a problem related to my child(ren)’s education?  St. Wenceslaus teachers and administrators welcome parental involvement and input.  They realize that parental involvement in Catholic education is vital.  Parents’ talents and gifts are important to the success of St. Wenceslaus School.

If the problem is teacher/classroom specific, that issue should be directed to that teacher.  If you feel the issue hasn’t been resolved by visiting with that teacher, the chain of command should be followed by making an appointment to meet with the principal.  One should always be mindful of the Christian principles inherent in the culture of St. Wenceslaus and everyone should conduct themselves professionally.  Charity and patience are key virtues when dealing with emotionally intense situations.

What if I want to change something about the school code?

If you have an idea about the overall operations/running of St. Wenceslaus School or have a suggestion about the school code, please call the school office or a St. Wenceslaus School Family officer to have that item placed on the next Meeting Agenda.  This will allow all interested parties the opportunity to attend and discuss the possible ideas, suggestions, and/or changes.  During the School Family meeting, members will have the opportunity to discuss/debate the idea and reach a consensus.  A recommendation will then be taken to the School Advisory Board and presented to the Board as a recommendation from the members of the St. Wenceslaus School Family.  Please understand that the St. Wenceslaus School Family is a place for parents to express ideas/concerns in a safe and fair manner.  The School Family (including its officers) cannot make changes to the school code.

What is the School Advisory Board?

The Board is advisory to the Administration of St. Wenceslaus School.  It is made up of elected and appointed members of the parishes served by St. Wenceslaus.  The Board is advisory – meaning the Superintendent, as a duly appointed pastor by the Bishop of Lincoln, has final authority over all matters regarding school business.

How can I be a strong and involved supporter of my child (ren)’s education and St. Wenceslaus School?

1.  Pray – for the success of the school, for its teachers, principal, superintendent, staff and students.

2.  Support – The decision to send a student to a Catholic School is filled with commitments-

Commitment to live as a Christian role-model

Commitment to sacrifice money and time (many opportunities to volunteer)

Commitment to support in word and deed the educational community that takes on the awesome responsibility of educating our children

3.  Stay  informed – attend the Association’s meetings, get to know the teachers, administration, and staff, keep current with recent legislative action that can directly impact our children’s school.
